Why Twitter Events are Compelling for Individuals

Twitter events are a compelling to users of Twitter because they a create an exciting dimension with minimal effort on the part of the individual. All they have to do is turn up and take part. People who enjoy Twitter often love to interact with other people and love to contribute their opinions. Twitter events build a sense of community, a sense of belonging and friendships form. Twitter events create opportunities for a central focus of conversation that makes it easy for people to contribute and be noticed. The nature of events makes it easy to have a two-way dialogue with lots of people on one particular topic. Twitter events often present opportunities for individuals to get far more back in value than if they hadn’t taken part.

Why Twitter Events are Compelling for Businesses

The ideal when it comes to social media marketing is to concentrate time and effort and build a following of dedicated raving followers who want to spread the word about your offer. Social media events really help you towards achieving this goal.

- Individuals become more engaged as they get what you are trying to achieve.
- You can request your content to be re-tweeted on a very large scale with a captive audience ready to help you.
- You will naturally build a larger following as the followers of people who interact with you become more familiar with the conversations the people they are following are having with you.
- You can build strong rapport and dialogue with your followers.
- You can stand out head and shoulders above your competition.
- You can deliver fantastic customer service and participation.
- As you build up trust and rapport it is much easier to do business through Twitter.

In any kind of business environment it is very difficult to achieve lots if your social interaction relies upon an ad-hoc social conversation every now and again. You organise meetings, events, training, conference calls, because you understand that when we get a group of people together with a central focus we can realise our goals. So why do so many businesses, not get this when it comes to Twitter?

Yes of course it is important to engage in one to one conversation with individuals and yes it is important to have a strategic approach to the direction of your Twitter engagement, but why not take this up a level and get your followers engaged in helping you to achieve your objectives. It wouldn’t necessarily be all of your fans, but even engaging a section of your followers in this way can be highly rewarding.

Twitter events if run correctly can ooze bags of energy and it provides the perfect opportunity to influence the actions that your followers take.

Twitter events can really build engagement with your brand.

Next week will be looking at what makes a good Twitter Event

Buzz Internet Marketing organise and host Twitter events both for our own businesses and for external clients to help companies build dialogue and closer to their customers online.

Whatever your target audience, whether it’s business to business, business to consumer, or any other business seeking to get closer to your customers. Have you considered Twitter events?

Twitter events are emerging as a way of companies reaching out to their customers through social media. It’s not about finding ways in social media to immediately sell products, but as with all areas of social media it’s about engagement, conversation, building awareness of what you offer and creating new ways of getting closer to your customer.

A Twitter event is an organised event that takes place but instead of getting people together in the flesh the event is carried out virtually on Twitter.

Just like in the real world a Twitter event takes on a different guise depending upon your target audience and what you want to achieve out of the event. For example a party feel can be very effective within consumer markets, but a a more formal event might be more effective in a business to business market.

The key to Twitter events is to identify your market and create your unique event to meet the needs of your target audience.

Creating and hosting Twitter events present brilliant opportunities for you to engage with your target audience online.

#MyTwitterEvent is a business to business event held on Twitter to create a supportive community of businesses who want to find ways to get closer to their customer and gain insights from each other on their own Twitter event.

Ways to source content to tweet / re-tweet to your followers:

Find articles on www.digg.com relevant to your audience
Subscribe to RSS feeds of blogs relevant to your target market
Post quotes from quote websites such as www.inspirationalquotes.com

Measure your impact on Twitter by using tools such as:
